As the new year kicks off, I am sure a lot of us are looking to pick up new skills, hobbies, or habits. However, the motivation to stick with the goal can be quite challenging.
Here are some tips to embrace the challenge:
Be kind to yourself: Negative self-talk may have served to motivate you as a child, but it is no longer needed or your only option.
Recognize that you will be frustrated. With most skills, you are not going to be a natural, hence, give yourself time to feel your irritation. The emotions will pass and you will be closer to where you want to be
Practice consistently… but acknowledge that breaks are just as valuable to your growth as your habit
